ILOILO CITY: At least 79 families living along the Iloilo River at Barangay North San Jose, Molo district were given until June 30, 2013 to transfer to their newly built houses at the Iloilo River Plains Subdivision Phase I relocation site in Barangay Lanit, Jaro. City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the river dwellers were given enough time to transfer after the National Housing Authority (NHA) reported the construction completion of 500 houses at the relocation site. Panay Electric Company (PECO) is also finishing the electrical connections of the houses whose owners applied for meter connections with PECO. To follow the transfer of river dwellers are the 110 families who were fire victims of Barangay Tabucan, Mandurriao early this year. Some 300 transient families living at transient houses at the Uswag Subdivision in San Isidro, Jaro will also transfer to Lanit. A total of 1,000 houses will be constructed by the government in the subdivision Phase I project.
While housing contractor JDLegaspi will also donate 138 housing units free of charge to the government at the San Isidro site.
