After two months of rounding up some of the brightest high school and grade school students in Visayas and Mindanao for a fierce yet friendly intellectual match, “Pasiklaban sa Paaralan,” the country’s only technology-integrated travelling quiz show, moves eight students to its national finals.
They are Sealthiel Andrei Malones of Children’s Integrated School of Alta Tierra Inc., Iloilo City; June Lorenz Capin of University of Nueva Caceres, Naga City; Emirozz Czarlene Labaria of Bohol Wisdom School; Katherine Marie del Rosario of St. Theresa’s College, Cebu City; Rainier Josef Ahalajal of Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City; Aeron Jan Sanidad of The Quantum Academy Inc., General Santos City; Richard Alterado of Andres Bonifacio College, Dipolog City; and John Louize Guban of Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
The eight students’ need to wait until February to find out who they will compete against when the semi-final rounds in North and South Luzon, as well as the National Capital Region conclude.
The Pasiklaban sa Paaralan National Finals is slated in March, and will take place at The Mind Museum, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. A total of 16 students from around the country are expected to challenge each other in the arenas of Science, Math, Languages, Literature, and General Information. One national champion for grade school and high school will be determined as titleholders for school year 2014 to 2015.
Pasiklaban sa Paaralan is organized by Diwa Learning Systems Inc. Launched in 2009, its organizers have continued to find better technology and techniques that will improve the experience of the quiz show’s participants and spectators. Consequently, Pasiklaban continues to be an anticipated event in thousands of schools across the country, and is testament to endless possibilities of making learning fun and engaging.
“The dramatic changes Pasiklaban has gone through to become what it is today, from using pen and papers to specialized software, are the results of the innovative minds behind the mobile quiz show,” says Diwa executive vice president Brian Belen.
Pasiklaban sa Paaralan kicked off at the Smart Kids Asia event in August 2014.
