The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday revealed that 82 families were rendered homeless after a fire suspected caused by faulty electrical wiring gutted 27 houses in Davao City Thursday morning.
It said the fire started at about 10 a.m. at Purok 6 in Barangay 12-B Poblacion in Davao City.
The NDRRMC said 82 families or 474 people were affected and are now staying at temporary shelters at the barangay covered court, San Roque Chapel, and Barrio Patag Purok 6.
Arson investigators are looking into an electrical short circuit as the cause of the fire.
Investigation also showed the fire spread quickly because most of the houses in the area were made of wood. PNA
