More than 200 tankers will be vying for slots in the 2017 Summer World University Games to be held in Taipei, Taiwan. The other international tournaments lined up are the 2015 Royal Bangkok Swim Meet, 2016 Phuket Invitational Swimming Championship and the 2016 Indian Ocean All Star Challenge in Perth, Australia.

“I am happy to see many Bicolanos trying out for World Universiade, they are smart to realize that Universiade indeed is a dream come true for them. I see these young swimmers before, when they were only 12 years old and now that dream has come to a reality,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers by age band while trophies await the Most Outstanding Swimmer awardees.

“The staging of El Presidente in Bicol during my important day inspired me seeing their hard work. Now their eyes are open that after all the times they spent in training and sacrifices their goal is achieved,” added Papa, who will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday.

Papa also expressed elation over the support thrown by Albay Falcons head Manuel Adornado, Mariners Polytechnic Foundation Commodore Dante Jimenez and Ibalong Magayon Aquagliders President Arlon Rances.

“These people continue to support us in bringing the competition here in Bicol because they believe in our vision. We are opening the gates to these young kids who wants to represent our country in international level,” Papa stressed.
