• 9-hour brownout plunges Bataan towns into dark


    HERMOSA, Bataan: Power outage hit a city and four towns in Bataan from 30 minutes to nine hours Tuesday to give way to repairs undertaken along the 10 MVA substation of the Peninsula Electric Cooperative in Hermosa town.

    “Pinapalitan namin ang mga bulok na poste. Brownout dito sa Hermosa ng siyam na oras mula alas-8 ng umaga hanggang alas-5 ng hapon,” said Penelco formen Alex Ilaya. He said that four rotten wooden posts will be replaced.

    Penelco’s heavy equipment and linemen were seen busy undertaking repair works along the MacArthur Highway in Hermosa.

    Penelco is the electric power distributor in Bataan. Affected by the maintenance work were the towns of Orani, Samal and Abucay and the City of Balanga for 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes in the afternoon.

    Power outage was scheduled in these areas from 8:30 a.m to 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Vendors in the old public market used either candles or solar-powered lamps and flashlights.
