9-hour brownout to hit Ilocos Norte


LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has set a scheduled power interruption on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. affecting the Laoag and Burgos sub-stations of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC).

Noel Andres of INEC announced on Tuesday that electricity service will be temporarily interrupted in some parts of Laoag City affecting some parts of Barangay 4 up to 20 and the entire Barangay 21 up to 29 including Barit, Vira, Salet, Camanggaan, Lagui, Rioeng, San Mateo, Lataag, Bacsil North and South, Laoag City Commercial Complex, Gov. Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital and Divine Word College’s Laoag City campus.

This is in view of the annual preventive maintenance and testing of the 50 MVA power transformer and its
associated equipment along with maintenance of the Laoag-Marcos 69 kV transmission line.

In neighboring San Nicolas town, the affected barangay (villages) are Barabar, Santa Cecilia and Nagrebcan including Barangay Biningan of Batac City.

Pagudpud residents, except those living in Barangay Pancian and Pasaleng with steady supply of hydroelectric power, will also experience the same including those in the towns of Bacarra, Pasuquin, Bangui, Burgos, Vintar, Sarrat, Dingras, Solsona, Piddig, Carasi, Marcos, Banna and Nueva Era.

Both NGCP and INEC said normal operations will immediately resume after work completion.|

Customers and the general public are advised to take necessary preparations and precautions for the scheduled interruption.
