THE 22nd staging of Trans Sport Show, to be held from May 30 to June 2 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, is set to feature the anniversary celebrations of the Porsche 911 and the Chevrolet Corvette. The show will also offer a slew of launches and never-seen-before car displays.
The Porsche 911 is marking its 50th birthday this year while the Chevrolet Corvette is celebrating its 60th.
Porsche Club Phils. (PCP) will display its collection of 911s from model years 1965 to 1973. Other significant 911s, including the Turbo, RS, RSR, GT2, GT3 and a special 930 RUF BTR will also be shown alongside some 911 racecars.
Founded in 1991, PCP is an independent motoring club that has 80 members who own an average of four Porsches each. Its activities include track days, long-distance runs across the country, social and charitable events, and providing technical assistance to its members.
“We are honored to be chosen as the venue for the Philippine celebration of the Porsche 911’s 50th anniversary,” said Sophie de los Santos, president of Tradeshow International, which organizes the Trans Sport Show. “Porsches have been featured many times in our show and they’re a monumental part of local motoring heritage and excitement.”
Meanwhile, the Corvette’s 60th-year celebration will be spearheaded by the Manila Sports Car Club.
Other events at this year’s Trans Sport Show include the launch of the Class DTM Championship where enthusiasts from the Philippine DTM Revival are organizing a race series.
