The Department of Education (DepEd) has completed the turnover of 9,296 classrooms in the Ilocos and Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) regions under the public-private partnership (PPP) program. The project is expected to benefit 4,000 school children to address the classroom backlog in the country’s public schools. The project was awarded to private partners – Bright Future Educational Facilities Inc., and Citicore Holdings Investment Inc.-Megawide Construction Corp. Under the contract the private partner will design, finance and construct of about 9,296 classrooms including furniture and fixtures. For Phase II of the PPP for School Infrastructure Project, some 1,690 classrooms were completed as of October 31, 2015 that will benefit other regions such as Cordillera Administrative Region, Region I, II, III, X, and XIII.
