BEIJING: The stage is set for a historic handshake between the presidents of Taiwan and China at the weekend with protocol micro-managed to prevent the slightest political gaffe.
The summit today (Saturday) in Singapore between President Xi Jinping and his counterpart Ma Ying-jeou is the first time leaders of Taiwan and China have met since they split in 1949 at the end of a civil war.
