A fowl that prefers lowlands than the sky

Think all birds enjoy the heights?

Not all birds like to be up in the sky, just like this “Ashy Thrush” or zoothera cinerea, that prefer to forage on the ground, slowly walking and searching the soil, fallen leaves, and lose branches for food. When disturbed, it would fly to low branches until the foreseen danger has passed.

But if you are quiet and patient enough, you can see this guy on the forest floor, hopefully on a successful day with a mouthful of worms.

Interestingly, the only place in the world where this can be seen is “only in the Philippines!” That is why we need all the help we can get to educate more people about the importance of our native wildlife.
