Asia’s Nightingale set to perform ‘Harana’ at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar
Trust Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha to come up with an elegant alternative to costume parties and trick or treating for this year’s Halloween weekend.
The world class Filipino artist and concert performer, who spends half of her working year in the United States, announced that she will be holding a one-of-a-kind concert all the way in Bataan. Slated on October 31 and aptly titled Harana, the show will be held at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, dubbed as “the country’s only heritage resort by the sea.”
Followers of Lani’s career will remember that it was in the 1990s that she first made her mark in the local music scene. She sang the song “Ang Iibigin ay Ikaw” (written by Jimmy Borja), which was a finalist at the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival and later received the Awit Award for Record of the Year.
She recorded an album More than I Should (Alpha Records), which earned 12 Katha Award nominations.
Not long after, Lani won the Minuro Endo Best Interpreter/Singer Award at the 3rd Asian Song Festival for her piece “Handle with Care” (written by Gideon Jungee Marcelo), which also landed the Silver in the Best Original Song category.
In 1999, the rising singer moved to Viva Records where her first single “Tunay na Mahal” (written by Freddie Saturno), made the charts and turned gold, later receiving a slew of Awit Awards.
That year as well, her cover of the torch song, “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me” topped the charts, followed by other iconic hits such as Vehnee Saturno’s “Ang Lahat Ng Ito Ay Para Sa Iyo,” Jimmy Borja’s “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” and Liza Diy’s “Tila.”
The Philippines’ pride also became the first Asian to headline in a main showroom of the Las Vegas Strip, performing with Hawaii’s Society of Seven at the Jubilee Theatre of Bally’s and at the Main Showroom of the Flamingo.
Lani’s next homecoming show at Las Casas de Acuzar will also be the first to be held at the heritage resort’s newly opened Hotel de Oriente Convention Centre, a replica of the first luxury hotel in Manila.
According to organizers, besides the singer’s world-class performance, a four-course dinner will accompany the show in a picturesque hall filled with outstanding Filipino artworks.
Spread over 400 hectares, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar features a collection of Spanish Colonial buildings and stone houses (bahay na bato in Filipino), planned to resemble a settlement reminiscent of the period.
Noted musical director Mell Villena will be in charge of the production with the AMP Band playing for Lani.
