A grand finale for a ‘Great’ contest

World-renowned for their high-end shops in Oxford Street to bohemian boutiques in Glasgow’s West End, the UK is a shopper’s paradise. And in today’s global marketplace, British brands have become favorites among Filipinos.

This was evident at “Great British Shopping Contest Finale” held at the Mega Fashion Hall at the SM Megamall. A culmination of the contest, a raffle promotion, the event showcased the 14 Great British brands in a fashion show.

The unique fashion presentation was conceptualized as a showcase of accessible fashion, and the models who strutted the catwalk were everyday people and British diplomats. The audience was thrilled as they modeled clothes, shoes, accessories from well- loved British brands like Marks & Spencer, Burton, Debenhams, Lee Cooper, Warehouse, Clarks, Essensuals, Roos, and Mini Lifestyle Products. They also had a glimpse of the UK’s sporty side through Speedo and brands found in Toby’s Berghaus and Mitre. Toni & Guy also participated in the event.

But the highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners, who for a P2,500 single receipt purchase on participating UK brands using their HSBC credit cards from October 1 to November 26, 2014, had a chance to win exciting prizes. The raffle draw had earlier taken place and the winners were asked to join in the fun and claim their prizes including gift vouchers, and P50,000 shopping spree at Marks & Spencers.

Jeshiah Christa Cruz of Koronadal City, the grand prize winner, will experience the UK firsthand through a round trip economy ticket for two to London via Etihad Airways with £300 pocket money from HSBC.

United Kingdom Trade and Investment Director Iain Mansfield, who graced the event, thanked everyone who joined the contest. “We are delighted that Filipinos have embraced British brands, and we expect to see even more British labels in the Philippines soon,” he said.

“British fashion has something to suit every taste and style, and the brands in this contest show that that quality doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag,” he added.” A big congratulations to all our winners.”

The Great British Shopping Contest is part of the “Great” campaign, a celebration of the best of British business and culture.
