Looking radiant in an electric blue gown with matching blue fascinator, Lydia Rivera walked into the Midas Hotel Tent to the welcoming applause from her family and friends who were all present to celebrate her 80th Birthday.

At her age, you will not even imagine that she has 11 beautiful and now successful children. Looking back, it was a hot summer day back in 1936 when Lydia was born. She grew up in a simple home but was always rich in love.

Fast forward to her grown-up years, she married this handsome young man, Romy. And it was this bunch of six beautiful ladies and five good looking gentlemen who prepared this star studded 50s inspired party to celebrate Nanay Lydia’s birthday on May 8. Lydia is Nanay to her children and Lola Pat her apos.

The highlight of the evening was the presence of world class artists and celebrities who gave a great performance and entertained guests present like Isay Alvarez, Robert Seña, Tina Paner, Ricky Davao and Asia’s Queen of song, Lydia’s idol, Pilita Corales who sang with her.

But Nanay Lydia’s children stood up to the challenge and performed their best for the love of their mom. Heartwarming speeches were given by Esteban, Anna Maria, Amelia and Margarita. Wilfredo did a special song and dance number. He even offered flowers to the mothers who were with us since the event also fell on Mother’s Day. And last, but definitely not the least, a special 50s dance number was performed by their youngest sibling Gorgeous Michelle Rivera Lee looking like Marilyn Monroe together with her own children, nephews and nieces.

But the whole event wouldn’t have been a success without the help of Lydia’s other children namely Leonila, Clarita, Victorino, Paul and Napoleon and her 34 grandchildren. It was a joint effort by the whole family, which made this event extra special.

Ballroom and disco dancing lasted up to midnight and even Nanay Lydia did some mean swings and boogie with dentist son Dr. Fred.

It was a really a special evening. A celebration of life, love and family. What a fitting tribute to a great mom!
