EVER since Class 4 student Shama Parveen participated in the Gita shloka [chanting chapters of the Bhagavad Gita] competition at her school some three years back, her love for reading and memorizing the holy book of the Hindus has only grown. And, the fact that she comes from a devout Muslim family has never come in her way.
“I appeared in the Geeta shloka competition at my school when I was in Class 1. I read Gita shlokas given to me...to remember them for the competition. I won the competition at the school and that encouraged me to participate in such competitions every year,” said nine-year-old Parveen.
