Immerse yourself in an experience Switzerland this coming August as the country celebrates its 725th National Swiss Day.
Since 1891, the first of August has been celebrated as Swiss National Day. The date refers to an alliance formed in 1291 by the three cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden, the centre around which Switzerland was built. It is also the one day Switzerland’s residents come together to celebrate in towns and cities all over the country.
Each Swiss commune offers a day of federal unity by organizing firework displays, concerts, public speeches or presentations to celebrate.
Here in Manila, a piece of Switzerland can be experienced as Marco Polo Ortigas Manila will hold a week-long celebration of Swiss chocolates, cheese, and more at All Things Swiss from August 19 to September 4.

The band consists of 14 talented musicians, which was arranged by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General André Blattman. Their coming to Manila is the 3rd leg of the Asia tour, coming from Seoul, Beijing, and going to Singapore next, performing anthems and traditional music, for different Swiss celebrations.
