After years of meticulous planning, Arthur Manuntag and Kathryn Sarmen-Manuntag’s long-awaited church wedding was finally celebrated on May 9 at the Shrine of Jesus (The Way, the Truth and the Life) Church at the Mall of Asia Complex. In the presence of their respective families, the church union was held in time for their silver anniversary civil wedding.
It was also a glittery affair when the sponsors and wedding entourage began arriving in their best attires. The ladies wore silver ensembles and elegant gowns, bedecked with dazzling jewelry while the gentlemen came in their expensive and dapper suits. If one did not know it was a matrimonial ceremony, one would think that it’s a red carpet affair.
Big names in politics also arrived led by the former president now Mayor Joseph Estrada of Manila, former First Lady now congresswoman Imelda Marcos, wife of the vice president Dr. Elenita Binay, and former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson. There were also luminaries from other sectors of the society like business, medical and legal, as well as the show business.
The couple’s closest friends were among the principal sponsors namely Ms. World franchise holder and beauty guru Cory Quirino, actress Isabel Rivas, businesswoman Tina Ferreros, Lane Mover owner Virginia Lane, Joel Cruz of Aficionado, Gina Ronquillo of Manila Pianos, Lani Schoof of Peacock Garden Resort, Camille Agbayani of L’Aura Beauty and Wellness, and yours truly.
Bridesmaids were Atty. Manette Agbayani, Anna Sia and Misha Tantay, all looking like brides themselves in their beautiful and elegant dresses.
The Manuntag’s children also took part in the important day. Son Sean Paolo, who is following the footsteps of his famous father as a jazz singer, was the ring and coin bearer. Daughter Jacques Murielle served as flower girl.
While eagerly awaiting the arrival of his beautiful bride, Arthur, who looked dashing in his new found hunk figure, was seen huddled with principal sponsors and guests like Rep. Reynaldo Umali, Vice Govovernor Jose Gay Padiernos of Nueva Ejica, Dr. George Sarakinis, Kathy Park of Kaya, Manila Piano’s Willem Van Suijdam, magazine publisher Ernest
Gonzaga, Yufu-in proprietors Mr. and Mrs. Masanobu Otsuru, iconic singer and composer Jose Mari Chan, Richard and Roni Merks, TV directors Al Tantay and Edgar Mortis, Sonny Tanchangco and John Gaddi who also co-hosted the program during the reception at the Midas Hotel Tent with yours truly.
And once the bride arrived, everybody’s breaths were taken away. Non-conforming to traditional bridal gowns, Kathryn did the unexpected by wearing a champagne colored creation by Frederick Peralta. Radiantly walking down the aisle, the bride stood out in an atmosphere where the predominant color was silver for the ladies and dark color for the guys.
Credit also goes to Jesi Mendez for giving the bride an overflowing glow, as well as wedding coordinator JP Montilla.
Words to describe the event: grand, elegant and beautiful. Congratulations and best wishes Mr. and Mrs. Manuntag.
