As I mentioned in the previous column, Manila played host to two big pop culture and lifestyle conventions two weekends ago: the 2nd APCC (Asia Pop Comic Con) and the first ever History Con. Here is quick run down of what went down at History Con.

    1. The first ever History Con brought in a lot of celebrity headliners. Giorgio A. Tsoukalos from Ancient Aliens, Brandi Passante and Jarrod Schulz from Storage Wars, Damon Runyan and Ian Matthews from Gangland Undercover, Bobby Tonelli, Joey Mead King, Marc Nelson, KC Montero and Gaby dela Merced from Celebrity Car Wars, Justin Mott from Photo Face Off, and Simon Yin from Hidden Cities Extreme did interviews, Q and A sessions and meet and greet.

    2. History Con ran four days from Thursday August 25 to Sunday August 18 at the World Trade Center in Pasay and reported total of 50,000 visitors over those days.

    3. Besides the celebrity related events they had VR demos, a cosplay competition, a digital host talent search, history quizzes, historical reenactments, successful world record attempts (including 100 hours of TV show marathoning), wrestling and MMA demos, bike rides and over 100 exhibitors.

    4. Even before History Con ended, they already announced History Con 2017. Hopefully next year, they can work out a better system for the meet and greets as not everyone was able to see their favorites. At my end could they possibly get someone from the Vikings cast to come over?

Here are some photos from the event.
