IN celebration of the Year of the Wood Sheep, Resorts World Manila (RWM) invites the public to a world of luck, love and prosperity with thrilling events, performances and promotions.

Ongoing until the end of March is a fortune cookie contest for players and shoppers who can win anything from gadgets to hotel accommodations and gaming credits. Up for grabs with every crack of the fortune cookie are P5 million worth of prizes.

A vibrant and oriental feel welcomes customers to The Plaza at Newport Mall now decked with traditional Chinese arches, a Prosperity Tree and Chinese music, all setting the mood for the Imperial Festival.

Lunar New Year celebrations go into high gear from February 18 to 20 with highflying Kun Seng Keng Lion dancers from Malaysia. The visiting exhibitionists will display death-defying performances on high poles for a series of shows.

Meanwhile, Full House Theater Company in cooperation with Viva Communications Inc. is set to produce a theater adaptation of the classic 1980s movie Bituing Walang Ningning.

A story originally told over a serialized comic strip by fictionist Nerissa Cabral, Bituing Walang Ningning became a blockbuster with lead stars Sharon Cuneta, Cherie Gil and Christopher De Leon. It was re-made into a hit television series back in 2006 with Sarah Geronimo, Angelika dela Cruz, and Ryan Agoncillo playing the lead roles.

Staying true to its advocacy to “Champion the Filipino” by supporting local artists and promoting performing arts, auditions for the production will be held at The Plaza in Newport Mall on February 28 and March 1. It is open to both amateur and professional artists.

The upcoming musical promises to shine anew under the bright lights of RWM’s award winning Newport Performing Arts Theater with veteran director Freddie Santos at the helm.
