    AAP Initiates grassroots training program for motor sports


    Stockinger20150825The Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), together with the Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA), is launching the Motorsport Development Program in the country.

    The Motorsports Development Program is a grassroots training platform designed specifically for young drivers who dream of entering the field of motorsports and become successful race car drivers. The Program aims to prepare young driving enthusiasts, who are aged 16 -19 years old, are physically fit and who possess has a “champion’s attitude,” by honing their skills and talents and imbibing in them the discipline needed for motorsports, particularly racecar driving.

    Participants of the program will have the unique opportunity to be trained by ten-time National Rally Champion, Vip Isada, together with his team of champion drivers, Art Guevara, Bebot Reyes, Ivan Isada and Milo Rivera.

    The participation of young drivers aged 16-19 will be fully subsidized by the program.

    The whole training program will be segmented into nine different modules. Each module or training session will consist of 3-4 hours of lectures and 4-5 hours of hands-on training.

    The modules are as follows: Module 1 – Race Skills; Module 2 – The Racing Mind; Module 3 – Race Safe; Module 4 – Vehicle Dynamics; Module 5 – Race Car Prep; Module 6 – Car Handling; Module 7 – Race Craft; Module 8 – Fit to Race; and Module 9 – Race Show.

    Enrollment is done online and slots are limited per session.

    Registration is open to aspiring race car drivers between 16-19 years of age, must posses a valid Philippine Driver’s License, a duly signed letter of consent for his or her parent/guardian, and fill up and sign a notarized waiver.

    All accepted drivers will be provided with a Motorsports Development Program T-shirt as well as free lunch.

    Module 1 will be held on August 30, 2015 t the Mega Tent along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Libis, Quezon City. Registration starts at 7 am with the training proper, promptly starting at 8 am.
