‘Abad is no Mabini’

BATANGUEÑOS on Wednesday lashed at President Benigno Aquino 3rd and Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas 2nd for likening Budget Secretary Florencio Abad to national hero Apolinario Mabini in referring to the latter as the “brains of the Daang Matuwid”.

“Comparing Secretary Butch Abad to Mabini is a mockery and a grave insult to the memory of a great hero. Mabini could have created his version of DAP and PDAF (pork barrel) during his time, but he did not. He could have acquired tracts of land, as many leaders did during his time, but no, Mabini did not,” said Francisco Lirio, former mayor of Tanauan City and moderator of the Batangas Forum, a non-political organization that regularly meet to discuss the latest local and national issues that affects the lives of the Batanguenos.
