ABAP sends six pugs to Russia tilt


The Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) is sending a six-man team to the Konstantin Korotkov Memorial International Boxing Tournament set to start on Tuesday in Khabarovsk, Russia.

The members of the team are world youth boxing champion Eumir Felix Marcial (64-kilogram class), Rogen Ladon (49kgs), Ian Clark Bau­­tista (52kgs), Mario Fernandez (56kgs), Junel Cantancio (60kgs) and Wilfredo Lopez (69kgs).

“Looking ahead to the Myanmar Southeast Asian Games, this tournament is an integral part of our boxers’ overall preparation for that competition,” said ABAP President Ricky Vargas.

Besides the tilt in Russia, ABAP’s boxers are bracing for several more international tourneys among them are the China Open in Guiyang on June 16 to 24, the ASBC Boxing Championship in Amman, Jordan on June 30 to July 9, the 3rd International Boxing Women’s Tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan on August 6 to 12, the Taipei City Boxing Tournament on August 14 to 21, the AIBA Junior World Championship in Kiev, Ukraine on August 17 to 26, the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan on October 4 to 20, and the Tammer Cup in Tampere, Finland on November 21 to 24.
