Abdulhamid battles Thai for IBF Asia belt

Filipino Adam Diu Abdulhamid will face undefeated Thai fighter Downua Ruawakiking on August 23 for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia super lightweight belt in Bangkok, Thailand.

Abdulhamid, who is sporting 11-3 win-loss slate with four knockouts, is coming from back-to-back wins against fellow Filipinos Raymond Yanong and Marjhun Tabamo.

If he wins against the Thai, Abdulhamid will regain his confidence in the international boxing scene after losing via technical knockout to Russian Georgi Cheloskhsaev last June 24, 2016 in Russia.

“This is going to be a good fight and we are confident of Diu’s chances to score a big win,” said promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of the Sanman Promotions.

Known for his hard-hitting punches, Ruawakiking is undefeated in nine fights with seven knockouts.
