TOKYO: Japanese media reported on Thursday that Tokyo and Beijing are preparing for a summit between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing next week.

It would be the first such meeting in almost three years and a diplomatic breakthrough for Abe.
