Design maven Junjun Ablaza outdid himself again as in his past exhibits for the 2014 edition of Ablazablaze.
Dubbed “Dining with the Gods,” the exhibit was also his birthday celebration held at the Manila Polo Club, which he transformed into a dining place fit for royalties and the Gods.
Each table setting had a different motif, a sight to behold for his invited guests including the diplomatic corps led by loving parents Consul Louie and Consul Mellie Ablaza, the business community, and Manila’s high society circle.
As for his exhibit, the designer also showcased three-dimensional dining installations inspired the bliss of lightness, the mysteries of darkness, the calmness of air, the beauty of earth, the magnificence of ice, the strength of the fire, and the spirit of water.
These portraits were captured by international photographer Filbert Kung, and styled by stylist to the stars Roko Arceo. A special catalogue compiled in collaboration with Tedrick Yau and Trixie Orobia, with the assistance of Michele Si- son and Dodie Garci, was also unveiled at the vent. It gathered the many events adorned by Ablaza.
Production guru Jett Carpio oversaw the exhibit that ran for three days at the main lounge of the Manila Polo Club.
Ablazablaze is always held every November in celebration of Abalaza’s birthday. Before the exhibit officially opened, his loving siblings Marc Thomas Ablaza and Czarina Ablaza-Syquia offered a short speech and birthday greetings, toasting to more success for him.
The revelation of an image by Ablaza by emerging artist Jeffrey Baligad was the highlight of the launch.
Belvedere Vodka and Moet et Chandon were the welcome drinks that lightened the mood of guests wandering around the exhibit.
This was truly an enchanted evening to remember. I wonder what Ablaza will unveil the next year. We all look forward to it. Bravo Jun Jun!
