• Abott must heed ‘frank and blunt’ assessment


    SYDNEY: Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott must take onboard the “frank and blunt” assessment of his performance by a restive backbench if he wants to stay in the job, his deputy Julie Bishop warned on Tuesday. The unpopular Abbott survived a confidence vote on his leadership on Monday initiated by members of parliament from his conservative Liberal Party which was sparked by poor poll ratings, policy backflips and his perceived high-handed decision-making.
