Abra town councilor robbed, slain in market


CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet: A member of the Sanguniang Bayan of La Paz town in Abra was shot dead by a lone gunman in Dolores town of the same province on Thursday.

Chief Supt. Benjamin Maga-long, Cordillera police chief, identified the victim as Rogelio Pudol Talingdan, 52, married, businessman, Sanggunian Bayan member, of Sitio Naguilian, Barangay San Gregorio, Lapaz, Abra.

He was shot at around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the Cattle Market in Barangay Talogtog, Dolores, Abra.

According to investigation, just negotiated with a seller of large cattle then went to the porch of the cattle market office where he was shot several times. He died instantly.

The gunman then took the victim’s jacket (chaleko) believed to be containing about P500,000 and fled on foot toward Barangay Kimmalaba, Dolores.

Recovered from the crime scene were two deformed slugs of still unknown caliber of firearm, a black Nokia cellular phone, P27,000 and one certificate of ownership of large cattle from the victim.
