• AFP aims to grow one million trees in ten years


    THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday said that its reserve force will play a more active role in combating climate change by growing one million trees in the next ten years.   AFP chief of staff, Gen. Gregorio Catapang made the pronouncement to show his strong resolve to fight global warming which he sees as one of the challenges of the 21st century. He also vowed to develop the AFP Reserve Force to be the first responders during natural calamities and natural disasters. “The call that we have in the AFP as protectors of our nation now encompasses a greater mission of safeguarding our fellow Filipinos from the devastating effects of climate change and various natural disasters,” Catapang said during the opening ceremony of the 35th AFP National reservist Week in Camp Aguinaldo     on Saturday.
