The Armed Forces of the Philippines continues to monitor events, particularly in areas near the Batasan Pambansa where President Benigno Aquino 3rd will deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) even if the military has not monitored any threat that may disrupt today’s activities.
“(We will) be constantly monitoring (the SONA) for any disturbance,” AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato said.
A brigade will be on stand-by for possible eventualities that may occur during the SONA.
Five hundred troops each from the General Headquarters, Army, Navy and Air Force and the Tanay-based 2nd Infantry Division will also be on call. The troops are from the Security Escort Battalion, Military Police Battalion and Joint Task Force-National Capital Region, Explosive Ordnance Division and K-9 unit.
