ALTHOUGH the military is not an expert on drug rehabilitation, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will open its camps for the rehabilitation of drug users, an official said on Tuesday.
“What the Armed Forces will do is to open all available military facilities or camps that could be used for the said program. But we want to emphasize that the military is not an expert in drug rehabilitation,” Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla Jr., AFP spokesman, said.
President Rodrigo Duterte, in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), said he ordered the military to open its facilities for the thousands of drug suspects who surrendered to authorities.
Padilla said the military will coordinate with other government agencies that have the capabilities in drug rehabilitation.
Padilla said military camps that may be tapped for the program are Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija, and those in Bukidnon and Tanay, Rizal among others.
