The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday announced that the boxing match between local hero Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Chris Algieri will be shown live on major bases of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine Army and Philippine Navy.
This is done to accommodate personnel and their families who might want to watch the bout, AFP public affairs office chief, Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc, said.
This includes the PAF Gymnasium at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City; Multi-purpose Hall at Antonio Bautista Air Base, Palawan; Officers Club at Clark Air Base; Base Theater at Mactan Air Base; Officers Club at Sangley Point, Cavite; Officers Club and Enlisted Personnel Club at Fernando Air Base; and Multi-purpose hall at Edwin Andrews Air Base.
At the AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the AFP Grandstand and AFP Wellness Center, which can accommodate to over 3,000 spectators, will be opened to military personnel and their loved ones.
The Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City will also open the Ricarte Hall of its Officers’ Clubhouse, Army General Hospital Multipurpose Hall and PA Gymnasium for its personnel.
The Philippine Navy is also opening several venues to live screen the fight, including the Social Hall in Bonifacio Naval Station; the Conference Room in Naval Base Cavite and the Fleet Marine Ready Force Wardroom in Sangley Point; Naval Education Training Center, Blain Theater in Zambales; and the Multipurpose Hall of Naval Sea Systems Command also in Cavite.
Other military bases that house the unified commands throughout the country are also expected to provide live showing of Pacquiao’s fight. PNA
