After three long years, Gatbuca bridge now open

CALUMPIT, Bulacan: After more than three years, heavy vehicles can now pass through the Gatbuca bridge in this municipality, an important passage that connects the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga. The Department of Public Works and Highways Region III Office said the construction of a new and wider bridge, which was delayed for a year, has been completed this week and is now open to all types of vehicles. This means motorists, including passenger busses, can now drive directly from Malolos City to Apalit, Pampanga through MacArthur Highway for less than 30 minutes, down from almost two hours. The construction, which started in June 2013, brought heavy inconvenience and additional expenses to motorists traversing the area as they had to pass through the North Luzon Expressway in Pulilan, Bulacan and in San Simon, Pampanga to reach their respective provinces.
