SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Bamboo products will take center-stage in an Agri-Trade Fair that will open on February 23 as the province gears for its foundation anniversary on March 2. Gov. Manuel Ortega said the fair will be participated in by 19 towns and San Fernando city, which made bamboo as its top contribution for One Town, One Product (OTOP). He added that the bamboo exposition will provide traders the opportunity to make direct entries to regional markets. The Fair is an annual activity, which generates livelihood opportunities for rural communities. The government provides farmers the funds and the tools to manufacture furniture, tokens, portable shades, home and garden decorations, and other usable derivatives or by-products that can be sold in the market. Ortega is promoting the yearly activity as it increases awareness among residents and tourists of the province’s booming bamboo industry.
