Four months into crossing over to GMA Network from her mother studio of 14 years, Comedy Queen AiAi delas Alas is all the more convinced she made the right decision of becoming a “Kapuso.”
“Hanggang ngayon tuloy tuloy pa rin ang pagbibigay sa akin ng projects ng GMA, one after another—may teleserye sa Let the Love Begin at ngayon itong bagong noontime show na Sunday Pinasaya. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord at sa network na lahat ng blessings patuloy na dumarating,” she told The Manila Times at the launch of the latter program at the station’s headquarters in Quezon City.
Back in April, AiAi expressed that while she parted ways with ABS-CBN’s top executives in a very amicable way, one of the main reasons she decided to leave the network was because she felt she was hardly given much exposure in the last two years.
With all that behind her, AiAi has gotten back her groove and even more eager to go into live comedy via Sunday Pinasaya.
“Yung Let the Love Begin kasi may drama din yon eh, pero ito, talagang all out comedy. Mga skits na kasama ko pa sina Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola ng Eat Bulaga, and lalong-lalo na ang kakambal kong si Marian Rivera! Diba ang saya?” she exclaimed.
It will be remembered that AiAi and Marian, who is known as GMA Network’s Prime Time Queen, produced and starred in the 2013 comedy-action flick Kung Fu Divas, and have remained good friends ever since.
“At least lagi na niya mapapaala sa akin kung anong regalo ang gusto niya para sa magiging inaanak ko,” joked AiAi of her good friend who is carrying her eldest child with husband Dingdong Dantes.
Set to premiere this afternoon, the comedy-musical variety program Sunday Pinasaya redefines the usual variety show giving viewers grand production numbers featuring the network’s hottest celebrities, along with comedy sketches and fun-filled games.
Ai-Ai admitted she is pumped to premiere the show. “Excited ako kasi this show is comedy based. Patatawanin muna namin kayo bago namin kayo mas lalong pasasayahin sa hatid naming mga papremyo. At marami pa rin silang dapat abangan na mga bonggang performances mula sa kanilang mga paboritong artista.”
Also part of Sunday Pinasaya are Alden Richards, Julie Anne San Jose, Barbie Forteza, Joey Paras, Valeen Montenegro and Jerald Napoles.
Also keeping AiAi busy outside of her network commitments are her advocacies. She is set to produce a fund-raising concert in October for the construction of Kristong Hari Parish Church in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. The concert will feature the “Six Priests in the City” (Fr. Eric Santos, Fr. Steven Presley, Fr. Allan Samonte, Fr. Lando Jaluag, Fr. Rey pascual, and Fr. Steve Zabala), Kerygma 5, and her good friends in showbiz, led by Erik Santos.
“Tuloy tuloy lang talaga ang blessings and salamat, salamat talaga,” said AiAi who was also asked by The Manila Times if there is any truth to the rumors that she would be running for a government position in 2016.
“Green card holder ako so puwede siguro vice ni Hilary Clinton,” she quipped. More seriously, the proud Binay-supporter ended, “Pinag-iisipan pa.”
