The management of Cebu Pacific (CEB) said it is investigating an incident that happened on Flight 5J 955 from Manila to Davao on July 30 when a passenger assaulted one of its cabin crew.
The passenger, whose identity was not immediately known, prior to departure had expressed dissatisfaction at having to stow his baggage appropriately as requested by the crew, according to a statement.
Stowing baggage in an overhead bin or under the seat in front of the passenger is a safety requirement mandated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
CEB clarified that its cabin crew’s primary duty is to ensure the safety and security of its passengers onboard flights and are ready to assist them.
It said it is providing full support to the assaulted cabin crew, who is considering filing charges against the passenger.
