• Akhuetie powers Perpetual’s third straight win

Nigerian center Bright Akhuetie powered the University of Perpetual System Dalta’s (UPHSD) third straight win against Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 89-77, in the FilOil Flying V pre-season basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena on Friday.

Akhuetie posted an impressive 27 points and 20 rebounds in the Altas’ commanding triumph against their fellow NCAA ball-club.

Perpetual blasted through the defense of the Generals early in their meeting as they led 23-10 after the first quarter.

The United nation Avenue-based cagers tried to reduce the deficit but were unsuccessful as they only managed to eke out six points, 40-34, going into the half.

Veteran guard Francis Munsayac and Filipino-African Sydney Onwubere led EAC’s charge, tallying a combined output of 32 points in their failed attempt to defeat UPHSD.

Earl Thompson, fresh from his stint with the Gilas Cadets in the SEABA championship, finished with 16 points and seven rebounds for UPHSD.
