The Alaska Aces beat the Mahindra Enforcers, 98-94, to take a share of the top spot in an overseas game of the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates early Saturday morning, Manila time.

The Aces notched their third straight win in the Philippine Cup to grab the share of the top spot previously occupied solo by the Rain or Shine Elastopainters.

Mahindra took an early lead in the initial minutes of the first quarter but was overtaken by Alaska through a 15-0 run with the Aces posting a sizeable 31-22 advantage going into the second period.

Despite scoring six points unopposed midway through the quarter, Mahindra was unable to contain the offense of the Aces.

The Enforcers, in the third canto, managed to cut down the deficit to just four points through the effort of Mark Yee, 70-66.

It was a close fight in the final quarter with Mahindra slowly penetrating the defense of the Aces as Yee converted two shots from the charity stripe reducing the lead to just two points, 86-84.

To the delight of the Mahindra fans present at the arena, an Aldrech Ramos basket tied the game at 87-all with a few ticks remaining in the game.
Mahindra attempted to vanish Alaska’s lead through the seven-point explosion of LA Revilla in the final moments of the match but failed as Calvin Abueva’s conversions from the free throw line sealed the win for the men of coach Alex Compton.
Abueva led Alaska with 15 markers, 13 rebounds and two assists.
