Fourth seeds Francis Casey Alcantara of the Philippines and Karunuday Singh of India barged into the championship round of the 2017 Shenzhen Futian ITF Men’s Tournament doubles on Friday at the Shenzhen Tennis Center in Shenzhen, China.
Alcantara and Singh ousted Yi Chu-Huan of Taiwan and Zhong Su Hao of China, 7-6 (3), 6-3, in the semifinals of the tournament sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation.
The Filipino-Indian pair sealed a finals showdown with third seeds Nam Hoang Ly of Vietnam and Sun Fajing of China, who defeated the unseeded tandem of Darren Polkinghorne of Australia and Wu Tung-Lin of Taiwan, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
Alcantara, a former Australian Open juniors doubles champion, shoots for his sixth doubles title this year.
He topped the Egypt Men’s Futures in Sharm El Sheikh and Bahrain Ministry of Interior ITF Futures in Manama in March, the Singapore ITF Futures 1 and Singapore ITF Futures 2 in May, and the Singapore ITF Futures 3 and Hong Kong ITF Futures 1 in June.
