The all-new Volvo XC90 lead the pack of awe-inspiring Volvos at the first-ever European Motor Show held recently at the Bonifacio Global City Activity Center. With its visually striking looks, premium quality seven-seat sport utility vehicle (SUV) characteristics, world-leading safety features, new power train technologies and an unrivalled combination of power and fuel efficiency, the Volvo XC90 was eye candy for the motoring enthusiasts and auto show guests.
Sporting Volvo’s new face – a more prominent Ironmark and T-shaped “Thor’s Hammer” DRL lights – the XC90 shows an entirely new, distinctive and confident face for Volvo’s forthcoming generation of cars. Built on Volvo’s ground-breaking SPA platform, the XC90 is also the most technologically advanced car Volvo has ever made. On display will be the XC90 that is motivated by a petrol-fed engine with supercharger and turbo generating 320 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 Newton-meters. It comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. The XC90 is also available with a D5 diesel engine producing 225 hp and 470 Nm of torque.
Also on display is Volvo’s agile V40 Sportswagon. It’s a compact hatch that is packed with intuitive technology and is perfectly suited for city life. New T-shaped LED lamps create a wider, athletic stance while the interior exudes a truly premium cabin experience with its clean lines and smart features.
All Volvos on display including those available for test drive – such as the powerfully dynamic Polestar-infused Volvo S60 and XC60 – were definitely a treat for the senses. Each Volvo now bears the product of years of research with advances in efficient power through Drive-E, connectivity through Sensus, and the trademark Volvo safety through Intellisafe.
Drive-E is intelligent technology that gives you superb road performance without compromising fuel efficiency. By utilizing innovative new power trains that strike the perfect balance power, efficiency, incredibly low emissions and fuel consumption, these new Volvos assure of an outstanding performance with less impact on the environment.
Sensus on the other hand, is a technology developed by Volvo to give you a more connected, enjoyable experience. With minimum clutter and beautiful design, Sensus contributes to the uniquely Swedish look of our interiors, which combine natural, high-quality materials with intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces. It has easy-to-read high-definition touch screens, steering wheel and voice controls, and head-up displays that provide visual information while allowing you to keep your eyes on the road.
Rounding up all the safety features that Volvo is known for plus new innovations that continue to make Volvo the leader in car safety technology is Intellisafe. From the invention of the three-point safety belt, Volvo has been committed to making driving easier and safer. Volvo’s Vision 2020 aims for a future where no one is killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. Today, Intellisafe technologies such as Adaptive Cruise Control, City Safety, Pedestrian Detection, Active High Beam, Driver Alert Control, even the world’s first Pedestrian Airbag and many more, help to prevent accidents and minimize potential injuries.
