The PETA Theater is all set to welcome power belter Aicelle Santos for her birthday concert Class A: Aicelle Santos in Concert on February 25. It is after all the fitting venue for the talented spitfire who has repeatedly filled the venue to capacity for her award-winning performance as Aileen in the highly successful Filipino stage musical Rak of Ageis.
After being hailed as Aliw Awards’ Best Actress for a Musical in 2014 for the said production, Aicelle is excited to bring another performance to what has effectively become her home court Celebrating her life and her passion as an artist.
Just as she was able to dazzle, tickle, and impress the audience with her comedic yet powerful and heartfelt rendition of Aegis’ top hits in Rak of Aegis, Aicelle said at an interview on February 11 that she is eager to show a different side of her as a solo performer.
“Every day I sing learn my songs as best I can while doing promos for the concert because gusto ko dito makita nila kung ano ang kaya ko on my own on stage,” explained one-third of GMA Network’s popular La Diva belters, alongside Jonalyn Viray and Maricris Garcia.
Aicelle was first-runner up in the second season of the station’s Pinoy Pop Superstar in 2005, which opened the doors to a thriving singing career. Since then, the passionate and hardworking former piano major at the University of the Philippines has been able to showcase her prowess as a singer through tours, gigs, concerts, as well as the challenging world of theater.
“I really feel so blessed with how my career has turned out, which is why one of my favorite songs in my album [Make Me Believe, GMA Records] ‘Kapangyarihan ng Pag-ibig’ speaks about the miracle of the Lord’s presence in my life,” Aicelle revealed. “Puwede ding pang couples yung kanta pero when I sing it, it’s really about His power and love sa buhay ko.”
As the GMA Artist Center gem turns 30 on her birthday on February 24, the singer is excited to begin a whole new and exciting year in her career, which will begin with her Class A concert. Joining her onstage as guests are her idols Regine Velasquez, Kyla and Celeste Legaspi, as well as good friend Gian Magdangal who will specially fly in from Singapore where he is currently working for the show.
