Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc. (ACRI) is planning to build a solar power generating facility in Mindanao.
ACRI chairman and president Tomas Alcantara hinted that the facility may be built in a company owned property in General Santos City.
“There is that opportunity we really want to confirm that possibility and we have the land,” he told reporters.
Alcantara said joining the renewable energy bandwagon is an option since there is big potential for that segment.
“We are looking at solar as another segment in the power industry that we could enter,” he said.
The firm is also entering the renewable energy sphere with the development of 15 megawatt run-of-river hydroelectric plant at the Siguil River in Sarangani. It is expected to be operational by 2018.
Alcantara also said they are looking at phasing out other businesses specifically in real estate.
“So I would say that in 2016, about 90 percent of our net income will come from power,” he added.
