University of Perpetual Help System Dalta will be gunning for a Final Four berth when it battles the already-eliminated San Sebastian College at 2 p.m. today in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City. The Altas are currently occupying the third place with 11 wins against five losses.
“We blew our chance in the last game. Hopefully, this time we can do it,” said Perpetual Help coach Aric Del Rosario in Filipino.
Reigning Most Valuable Player Earl Scottie Thompson who recorded his seventh triple-double in the league this season is expected to lead the Altas. Besides Thompson, the 6’7 center Bright Akhuetie, Gerald Dizon and Prince Eze will provide firepower for the Altas.
Meanwhile, the San Sebastian Golden Stags, with a 5-11 win-loss record, will lean on pro-bound Bradwyn Guinto and Jamil Ortuoste in battling the Atlas.
In the 4 p.m. game, the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers are also targeting a Final Four slot when they face the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates that are now also eliminated in the F4 race with a 4-12 win-loss record.
JRU is currently sharing the No. 4 spot with Mapua and Arellano University that are also bearing 10-6 win-loss records.
“We consider all our remaining games as do-or-die,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses.
A victory by the Heavy Bombers against Lyceum will keep their Final Four hope alive.
