Altas eye third win, share of lead

IT’S now University of Perpetual Help Altas’ turn to try to regain share of top spot when they battle Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals while winless College of St. Benilde Blazers face San Sebastian College Stags today in the 90th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament at The San Juan Arena in San Juan City. Bearing a 2-0 slate, the Altas tangle against the Generals at 4 p.m. following the Blazers and the Stags encounter at 2 p.m. The secondary matches pit the CSB Greenies against SSC Staglets at 12 noon and the EAC Brigadiers against UPHSD Junior Altas at 6 p.m.

After surviving with an 82-79 win over the San Sebastian Stags last Saturday, the Altas are in high spirit but coach Aric del Rosario told his wards to continue playing with high intensity to bolster more their confidence.

They will be facing the EAC Generals, who want to bounce back following their 73-80 setback to the Arellano Chiefs on Monday.

EAC coach Gerald Esplana will lean on Jack Arquero, Ariel Aguilar, Ce–dric Nuobe Happi, Jan Jamon and John Tayongtong against Juneric Baloria, Justin Alano, Earl Thomson, Harold Arboleda and Ric Gallardo of the Altas.
