AIR21 Express Team Governor Lito Alvarez said that he believes his squad will shine in the upcoming 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup season that will unfold November 17.
“I have a reason to believe that this is AIR21’s season,” said Alvarez during the PBA press conference on Wednesday at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City. “Our acquisition this year has strengthened the team in all positions and we’re all very excited.”
Alvarez said the addition of 6’10 Paul Asi Taulava, high-flying guards Joseph Yeo and Mark Cardona as well as Elmer Espiritu and rookie Eric Camson has turned the Express into a formidable team.
“I’m expecting the team to go deeper in the playoffs this year most likely in the semifinals but who knows? Maybe we achieve more than that,” added Alvarez.
The Express under head coach Franz Pumaren will also parade players Wynne Arboleda, last season’s most improved player Niño Cañaleta, Rogemar Menor, Bonbon Custodio, Vic Manuel, playmaker Simon Atkins and center Carlo Sharma, among others.
AIR21 will play their first game against sister team Barako Bull at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
