Unknown to many, veteran actress Amalia Fuentes had suffered an ischemic stroke in October while she was on vacation in South Korea.
Her grandchildren recently confirmed the 75-year-old’s ordeal and appealed for prayers.
Through a statement they sent to ABS-CBN News, Alyanna, Alfonso and Alisa Martinez—daughter of actor Albert Martinez and Fuentes’ late daughter Liezl —revealed their grandmother was “discovered by her friend in her hotel room and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Seoul where she was placed in an intensive care unit.”
Her Korean doctors only allowed her to fly back to the Philippines after spending almost three weeks in the hospital.
Upon her return on October 27, Fuentes was brought straight to a Metro Manila hospital where doctors said she will continue to be observed for two more weeks.
The statement further noted that Fuentes “will continue her recuperation at home and will be undergoing extensive therapy soon after.”
The Martinezes added, “We her grandchildren, together with the rest of the Muhlach family appeal to her friends, fans, and the general public for prayers for her immediate and full recovery.”
