American accused of aiding jihadists


A MAN from New York who was arrested in May was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) for allegedly trying to aid the terrorist group Islamic State and planning to kill returning US soldiers. Mufid Elfgeeh, 30, of Rochester was charged with three counts of attempting to provide material support and resources to Islamic State, one count of attempted murder of current and former members of the US military, and federal weapons offenses, according to a news release from the Justice Department.                                                                                                                                         MCT
