“Sophistication that epitomizes the dynamics of one’s personal taste is a style mantra that bestows a winning and timeless interior for a contemporary office space.”
Filipino bag and accessories designer Amina Aranaz-Alunan takes this aesthetic perspective to fore as she lends her talent in creating a modern workspace for Ethan Allen, in line with the global American home brand’s design philosophy of “New Eclecticism.”
Hers is one of the design installations currently on view at the Ethan Allen showroom at The Residences at Greenbelt in Makati City.
In planning her rendition, Aranaz envisioned a feminine office that exuded personal style.
“I wanted an inspiring office space for myself where I could also entertain visiting clients and guests,” she explained. “I love Ethan Allen’s New Eclecticism theme, which works well with my personal style because I’m never strict in following design principles. I just love mixing things up!”
Combining clean lines with stunning furnishings and accents became Aranaz’ key in achieving a rendition that is both classy and practical, with her stylish use of every available inch on her given space.
“I see my design as a space that could work as a home office as well as my main office,” she assessed. “I really like workspaces that seem like an extension of my home because I prefer to design in a place that is comfortable and sophisticated at the same time, but far from minimalist. It is an environment like this that enhances my creativity,” she enumerated.
In decorating the room, Aranaz chose items that “speak a story of their own,” while complementing one another.
“This Vivianne Serpentine Console was the first piece that caught my attention. With Oriental and French elements working together, it became the jump-off point for the rest of my choices.” she noted.
Aranaz continued, “What I noticed in modern spaces is the use of neutrals with a few bright accents or bold color. As a designer and home owner, this worked with me as an interior design that is again, timeless and classy.”
Power and elegance befittingly describe the visually arresting impact of Aranaz’s design installation. Among her impeccable choices for furniture and accent pieces are the Emily Desk, a smartly designed, three-drawer classic table with rounded corners and European-style fluted legs; the French-inspired Chrystiane Armchair that gives any space an air of regal femininity; the classic Emerson wingback chair; an open-ribbed, Old Hollywood-ish functional display with the Jocelyn Étagère; and the black-and-gold painted Chinoiserie Accent Table that further glamorized the workspace.
Completing the aesthetic ensemble are a spattering of Aranaz’s very own luxury designer bag creations, made from indigenous materials like coconut shells and weaved abaca, effectively infusing elements of nature in the workspace.
“I envisioned this installation as I would want for my own office. Ethan Allen’s wide array of furniture and accessories, as well as its customization service features made this a very fulfilling interior design experience for me,” she concluded.
