• Ampatuan wants to undergo medical exam

FORMER Governor Zaldy Ampatuan, one of the primary accused in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre case, has filed before a Quezon City court an urgent motion for medical examination.

Ampatuan asked Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes to allow him to undergo medical/laboratory examinations at the Philippine Heart Center on March 4, 2016 or on any day of the second week of the same month.

On June 23, 2015 and July 2, 2015, Ampatuan underwent medical examinations at the Philippine Heart Center on the recommendation of Dr. Jaime Claveria of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

Claveria recommended another set of medical and laboratory examinations as Ampatuan continued to suffer severe chest and body pains, sleeplessness, shortness of breath, acute anxiety, diabetes and other coronary problems.

Ampatuan’s counsels said the Quezon City Jail Annex at Camp Bagong Diwa where Ampatuan is currently detained and the hospitals near Camp Bagong Diwa have no medical equipment.
