The first-ever Manila Biennale entitled “OPENCITY” will be held in Intramuros, Manila on February 3 to March 8 of next year. The Biennale will focus on art as an experience and intends to celebrate the walled city of Intramuros and the history of Manila. “OPENCITY” refers to Intramuros as the origin of our capital’s culture and commemorates the Battle of Manila during which much of our cultural heritage was destroyed.

The Manila Biennale will feature an incredible amount of installations, events, and performances. It is a non-commercial event that seeks to find a purer expression of art and culture as an experiential discovery and engaging interaction. This is a brilliant and laudable effort that deserves much praise and support.
