CEBU CITY: Cherry Andrin and Kenyan Eric Chipsiror conquered the second edition of the Scholar Run 2016 of Lihuk Panaghiusa Inc. at the Plaza Independencia in Cebu City Sunday.
Cherry Andrin of Spectrum Runners Club ruled the women’s 10K with a time of 41 minutes and 02 seconds.
Crisabel Cadion came second in 41:25 and Melody Perez was third in 42:17.
Chipsiror, meanwhile, reigned in the men’s division, finishing in 31:24.
Local runners Azlan Pagay and Robert Daang nabbed the second and third places, respectively.
In the 5K category, Rowen Algufera won the men’s division in 16:43, beating James Meibe who clocked 17:02. Joseph Arnel Emia took third place in 17:06.
The women’s division was topped by Jeneziel Saballa in 21:46, and she was followed by Michelle Beboso in 26:21 and Helen Velazquez in 30:41.
Ronilo Gabilan Jr. ran away with the men’s 3K crown after clocking 9:48. Mark Domie Dinoy settled for second in 10:04 and Russel Ardiente was third in 10:14.
Jenede Arcuino dominated the women’s 3K in 12:22, beating Jocelyn Caballero (17:11) and Annaly Castroded (20:47).
The running event was organized by Lihok Panaghiusa Inc., a non-governmental organization.
All the proceeds of the event will be for the benefit of organization’s scholars.
Merlyn Llanto, program manager of Lihok Panaghiusa Inc., said that right now they have 174 scholars in elementary, high school and college.
“The scholars are those deserving ones. Last year there were 45 of our scholars who finished college,” she said.
