After a three-week break, the 14th season of the Ang Liga collegiate pre-season tournament returns with a triple-header game at the San Beda College (SBC) Football Field in Mendiola on Saturday.
Featured in the first match at 10 a.m. are University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) clubs Far Eastern University (FEU) and University of Santo Tomas.
The Tamaraws began their campaign with a 1-0 loss to UAAP champions University of the Philippines (UP) before eliciting a draw from National University, 1-1.
On the other hand, the Growling Tigers are coming off a 2-1 opening victory against University of Batangas.
Consequently, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) squads San Beda and UP are set to clash in the battle of first division top dogs at 1 p.m.
The Red Lions currently hold a record of a win; a draw and two losses while the Fighting Maroons hold an unblemished slate of three consecutive victories.
In their previous game, San Beda bowed to NCAA rivals Lyceum of the Philippines University, 1-0, their second straight loss in the competition.
Meanwhile, the men from Diliman relied on the prowess of the high-scoring duo of JB Borlongan and Kintaro Miyagi to remain unbeaten in their first three games.
UP notched a 3-0 win over Lyceum, before defeating FEU, 1-0 and College of Saint Benilde, 2-0.
The reserve team of UP will face Don Bosco Technical College in a second tier teams match at 3 p.m.
